PSALM 78 A PSALM OF ASAPH WRITTEN UNDER THE DIRECTION OF DAVID, 1 Chr. 25: 6, TO BE READ WHEN CAPTIVITY IS TO BE RETURNED

In SANCTUARY of God, He had scattered His leaders, Ez 12: 15, they are to be gathered, Ez 39: 28,29, from nations, Jer 23: 7, 8, Isa 11: 11.

Thus the LORD helps the SANCTUARY PRIESTS TO BE REVIVED--

INTRODUCTION

Psalms, prophets, are concerning JESUS CHRIST , Lu. 24:44 , His will is to create new heavens and new earth, and all flesh to worship Him, Isa 66: 22-23, in truth and in spirit, Joh 4:23, 24. spirit is words that has life, Jn 6: 63.

HE BUILDS HIS SANCTUARY, without hands, that is man does not do it, but the LORD did it through His sacrifice, Mr 14:58, Col 2:11, Heb 8: 2 (which the Lord pitched, and not man). In His SANCTUARY, He would be served by those of David’s throne, who know the truth, therefore those who does not know David’s ways to serve the LORD would be revived, Acts 15: 16, Mal 3: 3.

IN PSALMS WE FIND DAVID MAKING SUPPLICATIONS FOR THOSE SERVING IN THE TEMPLE--

A Psalm of David, Ps. 59-vs. 11 &12  requested God to scatter those in David’s throne, who were in Isa 22: 22-24,  by LORD’s power, for their sin of their mouth and the words of lips ( covenant breaking sin, Eze. 44: 7, exalting H.W.Armstrong through all their articles, are results of their thoughts and words. Words about H.W.Armstrong, makes him a god, idol of PCG!—therefore, by their words they destroy all in land of God, Jer 2: 30!)

Therefore LORD scattered them in nations, Ez 12:15,32:9.

THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE OF NO FAULT OF DAVID, Ps. 59:3,4, but their present day leaders who had the key of David, Is 22:22-24, became enemies of David’s throne, Ps. 59:1-4, this is why David requested to scatter them.

LORD did it by WORD , since He is WORD OF GOD, RE 19: 13, Eze. 12: 25-28 (words would be performed). LORD REMOVED THE RESPONSIBILITY OF LEADER, Isa 22: 25, and scattered them, Ez 12: 3-15!

David requested to RESTORE DAVID’S THRONE AGAIN, Ps. 60:1—therefore, LORD causes spiritual as well as physical earth quakes, Tsunamis, Ps. 60:2 (thereafter---LORD has to heal the shaking happened in men in SANCTUARY  through the wine of astonishment, sent through LORD’s banner to make them FEAR HIM, vs. 2-4, !)

Tsunamis and earth quakes show how the hearts shake when LORD shows what He had done in the hearts of His people!

David understood Ps60:11 ( he said that help of a man is useless, BUT WE NEED GOD’S HELP { how could dead H.W.Armstrong help God’s people?}), God treads down such enemies of SANCTUARY of God, where David leads the congregation to worship God. There was always someone in David’s throne, 2 Chr 7: 18, Jer 33: 17 (LORD covenanted with David), ----THEREFORE--when WCG,PCG failed, Is 22:25, JESUS CHRIST came as a branch, Jer 33:15-26 and got gentile servants to work as David, serving Him, Zec 12:8-10.

Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun were David’s servants, who loyally was led by David,1 Chr 25:1-6, Asaph wrote psalms 73-83!

In history when Hezekiah CLEANSED THE TEMPLE AND ORGANIZED TO KEEP THE  2^ND PASSOVER, 2 Chr. chap 29,30,----in 29:4-8 while admonishing Levi and priests, told them the need to Sanctify themselves, sanctify house of God, because people had TURNED THEIR BACK ON GOD (just as what has happened today, H.W.Armstrong in the front, God in the back!)

IT IS DISGRACING JESUS CHRIST! A VERY SERIOUS SIN OF DAVID’S PEOPLE!

Therefore WRATH OF GOD FELL ON Judah and Jerusalem and THEY were given to desolation, Jer 25:10,11. In a parable LORD made Jerusalem to serve Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, considering spiritual Jews of Ro 9: 4,6, (Jer 29: 1 addresses--unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon, vs. 2 refers to Jer 24 basket of bad figs)    ---- (in Babylon for 70 years, Jer 25:11, as with one king, Isa 23:15,  it is H.W.Armstrong , WCG continued by PCG until end 2004---LORD’s day started when they fell)-

HEZEKIAH ADMONISHED Levites –

(Hezekiah, king of Judah, 1Ch 4:41, descendant of David, 1Ch 3:13, Mt 1: 10)

Hezekiah knew ways of David’s throne!

He said--

2 Chr 29:10  Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that His fierce wrath may turn away from us.

11  My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him, and that ye should minister unto Him, and burn incense.

Vs. 12-then the Levites arose

Vs. 13- of the sons of Asaph, 14-sons of Heman and Jeduthun too rose with other Levites)--They and the chief singers, musicians, referred in psalms 73-83 and a few more, David wrote many-

Therefore king Hezekiah commanded Levi to sing praises with the words of David and Asaph, they bowed their heads and worshipped 2 Chr 29:30. Such a service as recorded in these chapters should be done by present day captives, when returning from captivity, they should take the example from kings who are David’s descendants!

God never changes, Mal 3:6,

Ex 3:14  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM:

He requires His ISRAEL not to change from commandments and judgments of God, Pr 24:21, Ps 15:4. Then only God could dwell with them forever! How to make eternal covenant with people who change?

Jer 2: 11-ISRAEL changed it’s God.

17-19,30, went after aliens,25, ISRAEL would be found and they have to be ashamed, vs. 26---PCG SPEAKS OF H.W.Armstrong all the time, glorying in him, a dead man, WHILE THE EVERLASTING GOD, JESUS CHRIST IS LEADING HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE ISRAEL!

Just as Hezekiah said to sing with words of David and Asaph, 2 Chr 29:30,-

Here is Psalm 78 explained (that is the way to sing with understanding, 1 Chr 16: 9--Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him, talk ye of all His wondrous works, 10:Glory ye in His holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.--11  Seek the LORD and His strength, seek His face continually.)

That is how we should sing psalms to SEEK THE LORD!

During Hezekiah’s time, 2 Chr 29:25-30---speaks of David and Asaph----

2 Chr 30:2- For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the Passover in the second month.

PSALM 78

Psalm 78 is written by Asaph under the direction of David, 1 Chr 25:6

Vs. 1- Maschil of Asaph.

Parable of nations

Ps. 78 2-3---speaking of a parable

Vs. 3-8 shows the meaning of parable-that ISRAEL should glory and praise their God and those facts should be taught to the generations so that ISRAEL of God would never forget their God.

Vs. 9-11-PCG (as Ephraim) forget their God, breaking covenant (PCG should remember how God had done for ISRAEL in history to maintain the covenant !)

Ps. 78: 12-33 reminds of history OF ISRAEL---LORD dividing sea, leading His people with clouds and fire, giving water from rocks, like rivers, but ISRAEL fathers sinned and rebelled against God, they questioned God saying whether God can prepare a table in wilderness (19-20) therefore LORD was furious, a fire kindled against Jacob, because they did not believe in HIS SALVATION, yet HE gave manna, angels food, east wind, 26-- sent meat like dust, vs. 27, fell in their camp, 28, but wrath of God came against them,31, struck down choice men, 31, they sinned, 32, therefore they fear, 33

Vs. 34-When God punished them, ISRAEL sought HIM and sought the Redeemer, but lied, 36, their heart was not correct, nor were they faithful to covenant, 37

38-BUT HE IS FULL OF COMPASSION,  FORGAVE THEIR INIQUITY and did not destroy them. Many a time HE DID LIKE THAT, because He knows that men are flesh, 39

40—they provoked Him!

41—42-ISRAEL limited God and tempted Him again and again. THEY DO NOT KNOW GOD’S POWER, HOW HE REDEEMED them FROM ENEMIES OF ISRAEL

43-54-describes how the LORD saved them from Egypt.

55-How LORD DROVE NATIONS before ISRAEL and gave them inheritance to dwell in a land comprising tribes of ISRAEL.

If you observe the above vss of Ps. 78---THEY HAVE REPEATED IN WCG, AS WELL AS PCG---since the last era church, PCG,  was judged, Eze. 16: 40-42, we speak of PCG!

All what had happened in history of ISRAEL is a parable WHICH HAPPENED IN PCG!

Above said-Ps. 78: vs. 12 onwards----LORD dividing sea, as Jerusalem is in sea, La 2: 13,leading His people with clouds and fire, giving water from rocks, like rivers, like ISRAEL fathers PCG sinned and rebelled against God, ---LORD came in clouds, Eze. 30: 3, gives enough Revelations as water---through gentiles

they questioned God saying whether God can prepare a table in wilderness (19-20)

LORD PROVIDED A TABLE FOR THOSE WHO ARE AS DEAD, Ps. 23! therefore LORD was furious, a fire kindled against Jacob, --FIRE SENT as Jer 5: 14, 23: 29, through the women of Re 11: 2, Isa 27: 11!

because they did not believe in HIS SALVATION, ---they believe in the chariot of H.W.Armstrong!

24--yet HE gave manna, angels food, ---gentiles raised, Eph 2: 5,6,13, are equal to angels, Lu 20:36---and ISRAEL gets their food!

26--east wind, through the east wind, of gentiles, Hab 1: 9,

27-28--sent meat like dust, vs. 27, fell in their camp, 28, ---ISRAEL PCG gets such a lot of spiritual meat to know good and bad, Heb 5: 14,

31--but wrath of God came against them,31, struck down choice men, 31, --Eze. 9: 5,6, Eze. 12: 3, 15 happened!

they sinned, 32, therefore they fear, 33 ---PCG IS ACTING AS IF THEY ARE NOT THE PEOPLE WHO HAD BROKEN THE COVENANT, THROUGH FEAR!

Vs. 34-When God punished them, ISRAEL sought HIM and sought the Redeemer, but lied, 36, their heart was not correct, nor were they faithful to covenant, 37

THAT IS THE LESSON PCG HAS TO LEARN! TO SEEK THEIR REDEEMER!—TO BE FAITHFUL TO THE COVENANT!

38- HE IS FULL OF COMPASSION,  FORGAVE THEIR INIQUITY and did not destroy them. Many a time HE DID LIKE THAT, because He knows that men are flesh, 39

IN THE SAME WAY, LORD IS MERCIFUL TO PCG TOO, AND THEY SHOULD RETRUN TO HIM—THEY SHOULD TAKE THE EXAMPLE OF KING HEZEKIAH, A KING OF Judah!

PCG DID ERR--

Ps. 78: 56-57-yet they provoked MOST HIGH GOD, always did like their fathers- ISRAEL were always like a deceitful bow.

That means they did not know to fight WITH THE WEAPONS OF GOD-they  never learnt God’s power !

Ec 9:18  Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good."

Without wisdom, PCG broke covenant through one sinner, Alex Harrison, Gerald Flurry listened to that man, Jer 17: 5!

Ps. 78: 58, They provoked God with high places and carried images—thus Eze. 44: 7 happened in PCG!

(Today too they mingle with the whole world who does not know to glorify God with Righteousness unto holiness---- and glorify another god H.W.Armstrong)

Therefore---

78: 59-God abhorred ISRAEL in history as it is this day.

60-In history He forsook tabernacle of Shiloh.

Present day-Ez 24:21 (God profaned church) and He hides from them, Ez 39:21-23 (gentiles knew it)

PSALM 78: 61 ONWARDS SPEAKS OF PRESENT WORK OF PCG—WHICH WAS GIVEN THE KEY OF DAVID IN Isa 22: 22-24 after RESPONSIBILITY WAS TAKEN BACK IN VS. 25, after they are in CAPTIVITY--

61-God THEN PUT HIS STRENGTH TO TURN THE HEARTS OF CAPTIVES

62-Gave over to sword –(now sending His words which are swords of God, Heb 4:12 to pierce the thoughts to correct them to eternity)--GOD NEVER DID A WORK WITH HIS WORDS Ez.12: 25-28, Re 19:13) like this in history.

63 fire sent as maidens were not given in marriage

Ez 16:8 maid cannot marry until she gets burnt with the fire of His words, Jer 5:14,23:29

64 It is the priests who fall by the sword as IT IS PRIESTS WHO DOES WRONG, NOT CORRECT PEOPLE so that GENERATIONS of ISRAEL TO CONTINUE- we should understand when LORD marries the LAND OF ISRAEL, THEIR GENERATIONS SHOULD continue FOREVER! God Almighty’s power of HIS SACRIFICE, who was MADE AS A SON, Heb 7: 3, Jn 10: 18, is being used, Isa 53:10 to make the HOLY SEED HE is producing through HIS SACRIFICE for generations to LAST FOREVER!

ISRAEL SHOULD BE PURIFIED through HIS SACRIFICE-FOR EVER.

VS. 65-To make HIS SACRIFICE, EFFETIVE, He sent the cup of red  wine, the cup of wrath, for these wicked PRIESTS, for their wickedness to be consumed, Is 9;18!

Vs. 66- He beats back His enemies ,perpetually-WITH HIS WORK OF HIS WORDS, Ro 9:28, Ez 12:25-28, A PURIFICATION IS DONE IN HIS SANCTUARY WHICH WOULD LAST FOREVER !

(Gentiles who were exalted in Ps. 75:7 to serve Him to give the cup of wine that is red, vs. 8) , works in God’s house, Is 56:4-7, because LORD’s work is DONE IN A SANCTUARY , Ps. 7:7-13, they serve as David, Zec 12: 8.

Ps. 78: 67-69- to build His SANCTUARY not made with hands, Heb 8 :2 , is built like earth which continues forever-(In Is 66:22,23—LORD’s will is creating, new earth and new heavens for ISRAEL to worship Him on Sabbaths, new moons, forever. For this purpose, LORD’s SACRIFICE makes all believers to remain in heavenly places through His baptism, Ro 6; 3-7, 19,22, just as LORD raised in heavenly places, Eph 1:20, just as the firstborn of poor, Is 14:30, who were raised through His blood, Eph 2:13 raised in heavenly places, Eph 2:5,6, ALL BELIVERS WOULD BE RAISED IN HEAVENLY PLACES--

Therefore when ISRAEL RAISES through HIS BAPTISM, Ro 6: 3-7,  when they receive His cup of blessings in a Passover, when they REMEMBER HIS DEATH, they would be raised ALSO IN HEAVENLY PLACES AND WOULD DESCEND INTO EARTH As New Jerusalem , Re 21:2, then their names of tribes would be written in the wall of New Jerusalem , Re 21:12—THE NAMES WERE CUT OFF EARLIER, Eze. 13: 9!

After this work of the LORD, through the word, Ez 12:25-28 bride gets His clothes, Re 19:7,8, and would be able to marry the LORD as HEPZIBAH and BEULAH, Isa 62: 4,5.

ALL WORKS OF JESUS CHRIST ARE DONE THROUGH HIS WORDS--

We should remember- we got to know that there WAS A PROPHET, Ez 2:5,33:33, he has fallen, Ps. 74:9 (Asaph’s Psalm),  about gentiles work in outer court, Re 11:2-4 , as the first born of the poor, Is 14:30 (poor who had the responsibility of serving the LORD to tread the power of the wicked ruler as an Assyrian ( an alien who does not know God), BY WORD OF GOD!

In Is 14:25,26 –we had to tread him in Jerusalem , Re 11:2-4, La 1: 15, as the prophet did not listen to God to correct abominations of Jerusalem Ez 16:2. Although he was taught from all prophets, Jer 44:4,5, he did not made Jerusalem to repent!

The LORD’s wrath and His mercy to redeem ISRAEL are all WORKS OF THE LORD WHICH WE GET TO KNOW FROM THE WORD.

These are all prophecies written in Psalms and in prophets concerning JESUS CHRIST , LU 24: 44   

Ps. 78: 67,68-LORD CHOSE Judah, NOT Ephraim. Although the blessings of ISRAEL were to come on Joseph and to Ephraim, Gen. 49:22-26, Gen 48:20 ( the vss say that Joseph is in trouble and God helps him, these things would happen in last days, Gen 49:1. Choosing Judah He builds His SANCTUARY , mount ZION to be forever (Ps. 78:68-69) David was chosen to SANCTUARY rites, 1 Chr 23:30,31

--THESE WORDS SHOW THAT JESUS CHRIST HELPS HIS SANCTUARY PEOPLE THROUGH HIS SACRIFICE TO GET THE INHERITANCE PROMISED TO ISRAEL!---for this purpose, JESUS CHRIST works as David’s house, Zec 12: 8-10, as High priest of Melchisedec order leading gentiles, Zec 12: 8-10.

Ps. 78: 70- To do all this work when Ephraim failed through covenant breaking ( Ps. 78:9,10-it is PCG, Ez 16:59) ---means---PCG was given Key of David, Is 22:22-24, but failed in  responsibility of David’s throne, through breaking covenant, Eze. 44: 7,  and therefore,  responsibility was taken from the prophet, Is 22:25

Then JESUS CHRIST Himself came as the branch of David to cause the captives of Ephraim to return, Jer 33:15-26-therefore we see that JESUS CHRIST is leading the gentiles as BRANCH of David, Zec 12:8 and HE HIMSELF leads them in House of God to provide atonement, Zec 12:9,10 so that HIS BLOOD WOULD REDEEM THE CAPTIVES IN PIT, Zec 9:1,11

Thus the LORD revives David’s throne, Acts 15;16 and Ps. 78:72 would happen

Ps. 78: 72--So He fed them according to the integrity of His heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of His hands.

A summary of Ps. 78-

History of ISRAEL is repeated now.

ISRAEL of LORD, who serve in temple, Ro 9:4,6- are chosen priests, WHICH FORM A GENERATION, and a separate people,  to be in His SANCTUARY and they are considered as LORD’s FIRST ISRAEL GENERATION!

1Pe 2:9  But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,

Therefore the prophecies would fulfill among present day ISRAEL, in the last era—in PCG!---THEY ARE TO BE AS MOTHERS OF ISRAEL, Eze. 16: 60-63.

The word of God showed their falling away, how they became Laodiceans today, AND HOW THEY WOULD BE DELIVERED BY JESUS CHRIST!

The LORD has chosen ISRAEL and He would be faithful to covenant of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David. THE NEW COVENANT WOULD BE MADE AS THEY REPENT AND TURN TO JESUS CHRIST!

2Ti 2:13  If we are faithless, He remains faithful;

SUCH IS HIS MERCY!

Through David’s  throne, IN THE ABSENCE OF DAVID,  LORD HIMSLEF had TAUGHT how His chosen ISRAEL should WORSHIP HIM  IN  HIS SANCTUARY,  loving Him with their hearts and souls and minds, HONOURING HIS Judgments, law , statutes, commandments, while loving brethren as themselves, esteeming the other better that oneself, Rom 13: 8-10, Php 2:3.

IN THIS WAY- THE LORD creates a peaceful people of ISRAEL whose hearts are circumcised, Jer 4:4,  to DO IS WILL, Is 66:23.

Through Lord’s sacrifice only it is possible  to make such a holy seed, Is 53:10 which would enable to continue generations of ISRAEL , Is 59:21 who would in turn BE A BLESSING TO THE WORLD

A new era would begin  with the return of the captives, which was possible only through LORD’s sacrifice and His reviving short work, to purify His servants the ministry as silver and gold--Acts 15:16, Ro 9:28, Mal 3:3!

We learnt that Asaph under David had written prophecies that concern JESUS CHRIST and His people who serve in the throne of David—how the LORD would help David to bring back the spiritual captives!

All praise be to JESUS CHRIST, the ONLY GOD OF ISRAEL, THEIR REDEEMER AND SAVIOUR, Amen.
